This vintage story session was a hectic one- but no less fun than usual! We began with Eshi and Cal cooking the session's food - avoiding the new addition to the kitchen - the decaying corpse! Cal, Remus and I dealt with my pet cat Charlotte in the inn basement giving Cal a DIFFICULT time while she pressed cranberries. I ventured into the depths of a cave, setting off several bells and forcing Remus and Candy to come bail me out. After bailing me out I went completely insane and started taking damage, stripping, and throwing rocks. After my foray into insanity, Runo took me on walkies to go see if the luxuries trader had a resonator for the central area- (spoiler, he did not).

Libree, aside from scattering dogs around town, is still trapped in the pull of The Windmill's siren song. Candy finished the construction of the masonry, and Silver made statues and chiseled a ritual circle for the well. Eshi finished the first custom board game of the server- (which, by the way, we would be honored to house in the inn). The newly returned TatlTael finished the roof of the vineyard- restorations are well underway :).

The Pilgramage to recover the bodies took several turns- many died and were teleported back returned to us by a celestial force. We battled new horrors until we felt the air change- a temporal storm while we were underground. It was a huge group, the majority of the town coming together to fight against the horrors and huddle together in a dirt hut losing our sanity. Eventually the pilgrimage returned home to celebrate an arguably successful mission- but mostly to get SHITFACED!!!

Apologies for the late recap- I ended up getting overstimulated, lying down for juuust a minute (passing out immediately) and missing the last 2 hours of the session. As always, thanks muchly for the recap notes, the screenshots, and for coming and having fun this session! See all you lovely people next week!!!!

Yours,
Benny C

This session of vintage story, amidst the sorrow of missing a friend, we found joy in welcoming back a long lost friend- TatlTael is back!! They intend to reclaim and continue building the vineyard across the river. We had a lot of people popping in and out this session, so i’m going to try and squeeze a lot of information into this recap!

Even MORE competition for the local blacksmith's affections has arrived- at this point we’re either forming the world’s 2nd largest polycule or entering a battle royale. Dream is settling in nicely, and on his doggy daycare chart I have marked that he is quite adventurous and to keep him away from anything labelled “mushroom soup”, VolatileCandy’s latest discovery. Candy also continues work on the masonry studio- located on the south side of the inn. The blood moon came earlier than usual in the session, and while we diiid spend some time hiding in a box- as seen below. we eventually found our nerves and spent the storm murdering as many beasties as humanly possible. As the storm ended, God or someone equally as cruel sent us a grizzly bear.

preparations for the impending temporal storm

Deathclaw, our previously mentioned blacksmith, has made moves into her own residence!! It is located on the east side of the inn, made of peridotite and granite, and will finally get his creepy armor statues out of the creepy armor hallway. Silver has been hard at work chiseling all session, completing their chisel shop railing, the armory, and much of Deathclaw’s house.

Runo spent the session:
a) making a wellspring on the hill where the log cabin house in the ground used to be. We will be completing a ritual sacrifice to the gods for water to arrive in the well.
2) Creating SO much leather for us. The wolves, meese, and farm animals have been plentiful and therefore so have the hides.
c) all of the above. (edited)

Remus spent a second session basking in the light (surviving the constant wolf attacks) and brought to the town not only an insane amount of mushrooms, but an insaner amount of red clay (two and a half crates- roughly 2,600). He collected much peat, started some charcoal kilns, and also now has a healthy stash of resin logs beside the woodcutter’s hut.

Libree had special trouble with the gods today, but was able to overcome the no chiseling allowed rule they set through SHEER FORCE OF WILL (windowed mode). The floors of the kitchen and windmill are beautiful and new, and once again, we are all fed and alive.

Eshisakka and Calcite spent lots of time both feeding us and saving food for our future needs- thousands of spelt and rye from the recent harvest, preserving thousands of fruits and berries in every way humanly possible, driving Cal insane in the process- “all [she] can recall is the scent of cherries.”

We had a quick town meeting, the full recording from deathclaw can be viewed here- but the vaguest, 1 AM memory rundown is that we are making a well to bring water to the town, preserving but utilizing the church ruin with an attached bell tower/stand and some cloth drapings to weatherproof it as best we can without changing any structure.

As always, lovely seeing all of you and some brand new faces. Holy fuck this recap was long- thanks for reading, thanks for playing, and see you next week!!!

Yours,
Benny C

This session of Vintage Story was the beach episode! At least, it was for Ox, Remus, Runo and I. We went down the river to Fishmouth cove to establish a salt purifying operation! Somehow, (blaming Remus for this), the area has even more wolves than our home village. We created a lovely little cabin, purified lots of salt, and mined up MANY meteors as courting gifts for the blacksmith. On the trip back, a heavy temporal storm hit us and we struggled against not only the river, but the sea of mobs spawning in every inch of our personal space. Surprisingly and impressively, Remus did not die once the whole session.

At home in soon-to-be-named town, there was a shingle making party and stand-up comedy show. Harvest season came around for crops of all kind: veggies, berries, and cherries all over town. Most of these were harvested by the beautiful Calcite, who also kept stock of what fruits and veggies go to who. A job and a half well done! This also means it's about to be wine and mead season in the inn. Eshi made lots of berry-forward foods and syrups! Lots of screenshots were shared from all parties today, so be sure to check the screenshots channel in the discord to get caught up and see some lovely views. In addition to that, check the art channel for fanart of today's best moments captured by Silver! Bucket finished the session doing "nothing of importance for the next 30 minutes of the session, except for playing with my canoe like it was a toy dinosaur and I was a five year old with two divorced parents not paying attention to him"

As always, excited beyond belief to see you all next week. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder - and yet I grow fonder of you all the more time we spend together.
Have a great week and see you all soon!

This session of V-V-Vintage story, we continued building INFRASTRUCTURE.
Eshi and I started the town wall/palisades- the path for which is blocked out with rammed earth, and the actual structure is slowly progressing. Libree carved a statue of man's best friend to join us during jam time at the inn. Candy and Libree created a beautiful bridge for getting across the river! Runo and Silver created Runo's Hunter's Lodge - a place for pelts to be tanned that isn't at risk of being eroded by the pond. It is located between Runo's house on the hill and the ruined church - it is a beautiful, textured building with a red roof, my favourite :). Calcite made a fully self watering farm using aqueducts across the river, pictured below with Runo for scale. Candy is beginning a quarry/pottery studio behind the forge, and Oxbow tends to the flax field by the lake while I tend to the one in Monky's yard. Life is calm and good.

The town fended off a massive (coordinated?) wolf attack, felling over 20 wolves in total (guesstimating- but it was a lot). Worse than that, we fended off rain for almost 3/4 of the session. Damn you, spring. During said violent storms I shaved 2 blocks off of the inn's height- hopefully it's not so looming anymore... Silly me, I thought we were going to get through the session without a temporal storm, but the rift is ever determined to get us all. Runo, Candy, Libree, Silver and I huddled in the windmill and managed to survive the torture of music during the storm (we did not, however, survive the storm). Honestly, we should get t-shirts. Afterwards, Candy showed us her magic wand, unprompted. What? Wait, what? We ended the session with a hearty It Has To Be This Way, several murders, and an Another One Bites The Dust.

As always, many thanks to our chefs, blacksmiths, hunters, and resource grinders for keeping us alive, and we hope to see you all next week!!!
Best Wishes,
Benny

P.S. SHOUTOUT to Benny and Runo for holding down the fort this session (uppies) while i slaved away in the coal mines (research paper) <3 EVERYONE CLAP -monky

This session of vintage story, we turned over a new leaf - going into spring of year 2! It’s finally warm enough to wear the clothes we want to instead of the (very insulating and well made thank you Runo) uniform snow jacket/boots/gloves combo. Finally, we foray into the town planning side of making a town. Notes from the first town meeting (held in the inn) can be found here

Silver finished the exterior of the Chisel shop, a charming peridotite building north of the inn. There is already a pathway connecting it to the main N-S road through town. Similarly, Remus’ lumber mill is located across the way, shale-roofed and larch-walled.

After many grueling six hour journeys from Remus and friends to retrieve chalk, and subsequently their items from their corpses, we successfully returned with a stash of chalk stones and about half of our dignity and bodies torn apart by wolves. Similarly, the blacksmith has taken to smithing nude, househusband style, with naught but an apron for protection. (just kidding. kind of?) They also volunteered to make one Meteoric Iron Weapon Of Choice from the new mods Swordz and The Other One I Can’t Remember But Also Ends In A Z. If you have not already, pick a weapon from the catalogue and write your order on the slip of paper at the smithy.

As always, with warm weather comes the curse of 10,000 wolves. When you join next week, remember to stay vigilant and always bring a hunting buddy.

See you all next week!!
Best,
Benny

Hihi, Monky again :3

Benny is still gone (returning over the rainbow bridge, aka interstate 95), so this week's recap will once again consist of contributions from various server members! enjoy :D

From Calcite:

in no real order.
I threw together a chick separating platform, and with some dedication from Oxbow, we now have trimmed the flock to 5 3rd gen chicks and one rooster. one step closer to proper domestication. I worked in the kitchen to keep everyone fed, and set up a few spiels for maple syrup. for food, I cooked down materials for clarified bone broth and made mushroom soup PLUS pasta for everyone. Also gave the two new players a tour of the kitchen and walked them through some of the neat things you can make with Expanded Foods (Muffins as a welcome gift!)

From deathclawiii:

The Town Smiths (today being myself and Remus) have finished the Meteoric Iron Plate set and began working on further Bronze armour for everyone.

An update from Calcite:

the funeral bell dish claimed another life

Followed by VolatileCandy's contribution:

From Onesilverkey:

As a newbie, I have started and almost finished the Chiseling Studio in town.

Oh I also did a silly litltle design in the snow that stayed for a day or so

From Runovaris:

I spent a little while cooking up salt by the ocean, Volatile helped me multiple times getting there (it was a struggle, cave-ins are the worst). Did more hunting, and even some cooking after Calcite left for the night. We're definitely cutting it a bit close with the food situation. Thankfully three packs of wolves spawned around the town right before closing time, so next session begins with a bloodbath

A final update from deathclawiii for today:

The Smiths [] have forged enough chainmail for two further sets of Tin Bronze Chainmail, we now await leather jerkins to which we can attach them. The plan's to make a further two sets bringing out total to seven sets of metal armour, likely what we will leave it at for the moment, though blackguard or forlorn hope armour would be a boon if found.

From BucketBot1001:

On a whim, me, monky, and benny went venturing across the massive lake to the north in search of copper, and found a plenty! Although I got murdered like. twice. and had to walk all the way back.

And finally, from SonOfLand:

I helped out with smithing, did some hunting along with a happy amount of deforestation as per usual, and have started building myself a little foresters hut, from which I hope to continue gathering large amounts of wood for the town, but in a more official capacity than just,,, finding random places to stuff 40 stacks of logs lmfao

C'yall next week with Benny's regular updates again!

7/12/25

Monky here! Unfortunately Benny is no longer with us </3 (for this week and next week only) so our recap will consist of little contributions from our beloved server members <3

As Benny crosses over the rainbow bridge (interstate 95), the expedition faithfully continues their journey in his memory

From Runovaris:

The Southern Expedition Team continued their trek (minus one Benny) towards the Resonance Archives, hoping to find some redwoods on the way. Alas, it was not to be. Instead, we found the entrance to the Archives, and then headed homewards.

Eventually we found something.... Cursed. A massive wall of stone, borne from worldgen bugging out. Some smaller "faultlines" dotting the horizon every now and then. It did not prepare us for what we would find next - A yawning void chunk, a dark abyss begoning us to it. Not one, but two. The other one so massive we couldn't see the walls on the other side.

A sacrifice was made. I, Runo, jumped down. I gazed into the deep darkness of the world's maw, and it gazed back.

I am no longer the same man I was before the expedition. We eventually found our way home, and now... It all feels hollow. Something in me yearns to go back.

So basically we experienced a wee bit of worldgen issues after I mistakenly updated some mods that i probably shouldnt have .... whoopsy doodle

fortunately, by the Gods divine intervention Runo was returned to the edge of the void as though he had never fallen in the first place ....

Meanwhile at home, life through the first winter proceeded apace, snowball fight included.

From Eshisakka:

For the first time, was able to cook without hurry as not many people were here to eat anyways :') 'twas lonely ... Spruced up the kitchen a bit with some chiseling as well while waiting for everyone to return <3 also, the snowball fight was fun :)

From SonOfLand:

I had fun being able to actually play with a functioning laptop, died a lot to everything, broke my spear, started/helped start a snowball fight, and eventually got my spear upgraded, and tasked with breaking two more items, which I did by killing over 30 mobs in approximately a day, and with about the same amount of death as I had before I was actively seeking out bad guys, which I'm counting as a win. Wolves still want my ass though :/

The expedition sucessfully returned, scarred only mentally, and preparation for the archives began ... also, we got a visit from Benny's ghost!

From deathclawiii:

When the expedition returned we were right back to work, Runo and I got started on the Meteoric Iron Plate set. Later Calcite and I began further deforestation of the horrid oak grove to make way for a possible future maple bush (and my charcoal pit)

And last but not least, from Libree:

Today, I fed the Windmill.

6/28/25

This yaoious/yurious session of WOKE story, we commenced a great adventure! Runovaris, Calcite, Deathclaw and I began a great journey south in order to find.... wait. We're just looking for redwood? Why has it taken us 25,000 blocks away???? We have seen the funny red skeleton from Undertale, gazelles, and so. much. river. We currently (haha, river joke) find ourselves huddled in an underground ruin, playing songs on the oboe, surviving off of berries and unable to cook meals due to an unfortunate oversight of the cooking pot during the packing. Plenty of images of the expedition are available in #screenshots-and-clips. News from home, though: the lads are getting drunk as fuck and jamming in the Inn, as is traditional for end of session!

We struggled with making our own meals for once, but did eventually figure it out, with a beautiful, not suspicious at all death cap porridge that (hilariously) claimed the lives of 9 people over the course of the 9 hours!!! The first snowfall, and ensuing snowball fight, were beautiful and glorious. Next session we will continue on with our journey and see if the next two hours have anything promising in store! Whew. I just wanted to make a red barn, man.

Good night slash morning everyone!! Can't wait to see all of you next week :)

6/21/25

This session, we experienced massive tragedy at the hands of two temporal storms and, more importantly, the death of Bucket and Gnrakel's beloved pets Buppy, Ouppy, Guppy, and Luppy. Their gravesite is west of town by the ruin archway. The gate was left open in an attempt to add a new member to the pack, but had the opposite effect as the pack exited their nice warm well stocked pen to run amok in town. Nobody could have seen this coming, and the senseless tragedy has affected us all. Except for Calcite, who fed the corpses of the pups - breaded and fried - to multiple townsfolk including Runo and Bucket himself.

Monky, Runo and I ventured into the depths and promptly vowed not to do that again for a while. We have once again remodeled the basement to better suit our needs- The basement underneath the windmill and kitchen was remodeled by Calcite, while Eshi patiently listened to her ideas while still making meals for the entire town. Libree has returned and not a moment too soon - the windmill has finally unpaused construction and stands strong, tall, and beautiful. Someone is flirting with the blacksmith, if the note posted in #screenshots-and-clips is anything to go by... Candy made a standing piano for the stage at the inn, and as is tradition, we played out the end of the session to some funky fresh tunes. The ass fingering part- not so traditional, but great anyways.

See you all next week!!
Hugs and kisses, Benny

6/14/25

Good evening and morning my wokeusts! Another priceless session of vintage story today. I was gone for a bit of it, but got notes from my friends in the class. We find ourselves entering the iron age, thanks to the tireless and endless work of Deathclaw and their minions, including VolataileCandy who gathered something like 350 meteoric iron bits. During this session, Runo "became Deathclaw's blacksmithing bitch" (direct quote). During my absence, a band of wandering musicians multitasked defending them while they smithed and playing those sweet sweet tunes at the same time.

Ouppy, Guppy, Luppy, and Buppy have grown to their maximum size! According to Bucket: "they like to bite". How sweet! The wolf population is manageable for everyone except for Remus, who attracts them like honey to flies. Thanks to Runovaris' endless leathermaking, everyone present has at least one leather backpack. The inn sports a new side cellar entrance next to the smithy as well as a new purpose as the town storage centre. The food cellar has been moved up a level to sit directly underneath the kitchen, and there is now a tunnel from the food cellar directly to the basement of the inn. If that tunnel happens to run directly through Deathclaw's basement, then. Uh. Whoops, I guess.

These sessions are quickly becoming the highlight of my week. Spending time with a group of lovely kind and funny people that all click so well together is a treat and much needed after a long work week. I am so excited to see you all same time next week!!! Surely no special surprises await us next time we log in :)

6/7/25

Today during session III of WOKE story, I got a kiss!! (though I'll never tell you who from...)

The wolf population is FINALLY on the decline, except for Gnrakel and Bucketbot's 4 beautiful pet wolf pups Ouppy, Guppy, Luppy, and Buppy (found in a pen by the house west of town. Surely nothing bad can come from this!) Deathclaw had a repeat performance as Village's Best Blacksmith, and Volatailecandy has outed herself as not only a fantastic bard but an incredible chisel artist, completing the tables in the inn as well as a stunning canopy for the blacksmith to work under. We started on armouring the town this session, with a few townsfolk now slinking around to the tune of clinking chains.

The Inn is 96% constructed and 62% furnished! That's just enough to have the world's most INTENSE chess game between 2 inebriated fuckers in the corner to the tune of some juicy violin. Not saying any names! (Hippo and Remus) :) We have a town notice board outside the food barn/windmill, and our top chefs have started a foray into dessert making - this session there has been muffins, sweet bread, and pies. The town is REALLY starting to take shape with settlements both in town and across the river nearing completion.

This week was incredible and I am so excited to see all of you and maybe more next week!!

5/31/25

This session (session II), we spent most of our time singing in ringing in the bronze age! Deathclawiii, our trusty smith, has almost single-handedly armed the entire town with full sets of tools and now chests for the town hall!! The red roof inn is 78% built and 0% furnished. Thanks to Runovaris, (and consultant Calcite), we now have a beautiful larger kitchen building attached to the windmill. It has all facilities we currently have access to, as well as beautiful (sponsored) lighting. In the basement of the new building is a temporary drifter mob farm. The windmill (old guard building) has been fully converted- first floor that was the kitchen is now storage, and the second floor is beds.

We killed what feels like hundreds of wolves, turned down the spawn rate and then killed a few more. We also got into instruments today- and to the sheer glee of myself and many others- discovered just how many people must play at once to create a cacophonous mashup of melody. We harvested our first pumpkins and soybeans, and cut down a large chunk of the old growth oak forest north of the town. (We replanted, don’t worry).

Next session is on June 7th- mark your calendars and we’ll see you then!! :)
